Emotions
Emotions are complex feelings triggered by events, influencing how we think, act, and even our body. They come in many flavors, from happiness and fear to anger and surprise. These feelings can be simple or complex, and they play a big role in our daily lives. It's extremely important to break the stigma that we only feel happy in our daily lives, because we feel a wide range of emotions, and that's okay, in fact it's normal.
InsideU: Emotional Educational Tool
The Crown Institute worked directly with Pixar Animation Studios to create InsideU. This collaborative project aims to harness Disney and Pixar's Inside Out's potential as a powerful, entertaining, and educational tool for improving peoples' mental and emotional wellness.
InsideU was collaboratively designed with youth using Inside Out's unique characters and narratives that are deeply rooted in elements of evidence-based psychotherapies. Using a combination of clips from the iconic movie and interactive learning opportunities, InsideU facilitates the creative application of social and emotional learning skills to real-world dilemmas faced by elementary school-aged children.

Maintaining positive mental health is essential for living a fulfilling and happy life. Here are some tips to help you check in with your mental health and ensure that you are taking care of yourself.

-
Pay attention to your thoughts: Negative self-talk can have a significant impact on your mental health. Take some time to observe your thoughts and challenge any negative ones that come up. Replace them with positive affirmations and focus on your strengths.
-
Practice gratitude: Cultivate a sense of gratitude by reflecting on the things you are thankful for each day. This can help you shift your focus away from negative thoughts and feelings and towards the positive things in your life.
-
Connect with others: Social connections are important for maintaining good mental health. Make an effort to connect with friends and family regularly, even if it's just a quick phone call or text message.
-
Take care of your physical health: A healthy body can help support a healthy mind. Make sure to get enough sleep, eat a balanced diet, and engage in regular exercise.
-
Learn to manage stress: Stress can have a negative impact on your mental health. Learn healthy coping mechanisms like deep breathing, meditation, or exercise to manage stress when it arises.
-
Take breaks: It's important to take breaks from work or other responsibilities to rest and recharge. Set aside time each day to engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation.
-
Seek professional help: If you are struggling with your mental health, don't hesitate to seek professional help. A therapist or counselor can help you work through any challenges you may be facing.
