Have you ever felt stressed out due to the overload of homework, extracurriculars, sports, and family commitments? Many of us have felt overwhelmed by the rigor of our daily lives and don’t get a chance to relax or unwind. Below are some short activities to decrease stress and relax!

5 Quick Tips to de-stress and relax:

  • Take a short walk around your neighborhood: If you ever feel confused or frustrated, going on a short walk or jog will release feel good hormones called endorphins which helps clear your mind and makes you feel fresh!

  • Practice Breathing Exercises and Meditation: Meditation helps decrease stress levels and makes you feel more alert and energetic during the day. Before taking a big test, taking a couple deep breaths will decrease your anxiety and help you stay focused.

  • Draw or Paint something: Drawing eases your mind into relaxation and helps you be more creative and think outside the box!

  • Listen to relaxing Music: If you feel stressed and anxious, listening to music can help lower stress hormones and help you feel calm and relaxed! It also helps you “get in the zone” before big tests, performances, and games!

  • Talk to friends and family: Talking about your day to your family or friends can help clear your mind, especially during busy and stressful days. Taking 5 minutes to talk about what you did each day can help you feel motivated to accomplish more things on your to-do list!

It is natural to feel stressed out in today’s world. You might feel like your to-do list is never going to end. However, if you break it down into manageable chunks and add time to relax, anything is possible! As we lead busy lives, we should remember to take at least 10–20 minutes to unwind. If we make relaxing a priority, we will lead fun and stress-free lives!
