Gratitude - the word we hear at least a million times a day. But what does it mean, and how can we incorporate it into daily lives, with actual practical tips, well look no further, this is the perfect article FOR YOU! I chose to write this newsletter in November, because it’s nationally recognized as Gratitude Month. This month is the perfect time to reflect on the importance of gratitude, and to remind ourselves about the simple ways we can incorporate it into our daily routine. By following a few easy tips, we can make gratitude a habit that positively impacts our lives every day, and every month.


The Power of Gratitude: Understanding its Meaning and Importance

Have you ever wondered what gratitude, gratefulness or thankfulness really mean? Simply put, it's about feeling thankful and appreciating the good things in our lives. While we've heard this concept repeatedly, it's easy to overlook the significance of gratitude in our everyday life. Our minds are often fixated on the things we desire, such as new gadgets or fashionable clothes. However, acknowledging what we already have is a valuable skill that should not be underestimated.



Gratitude: More Than Just the Basics

When we think of gratitude, we often focus on the essentials, such as our home, family, friends, and basic necessities like food, water, and shelter. While these are certainly important things to be grateful for, it's worthwhile to challenge ourselves to go beyond the basics. Try taking a moment to appreciate specific things, like the quality time you shared with your sibling over the weekend, or that time you ordered from McDonald's and got your order right. Anything from a human connection to an object can be a source of gratitude, so don't be afraid to expand your horizons.


My Top 3 Tips to Practice Gratitude in Daily Life

There are plenty of ways to spread good vibes, but let's keep it brief with my top three gratitude tips! Give them a try and determine which ones you prefer. Make it your goal to finish the year strong by practicing at least one of these tips daily (if you're just starting, it's okay to begin with once a week. Stay motivated and set reminders to avoid forgetting).


  • Three Nice Things: Take turns within your family or friend group, and focus on one person at a time. Share three nice things about them, then switch to another person. This exercise helps everyone find the good things about each other, which can boost relationships and self-esteem.

  • Thank You Notes: Writing quick and short thank you notes or good luck notes can show that you care about each other. Even a simple post-it note can make someone's day and be a fun surprise when they open their computer.

  • Grateful for Today: Take time at the beginning or end of your day to reflect on the good things you experienced and what you are grateful for. This simple exercise promotes positive thinking and reflection.

These practical tips can be completed in as little as 5-10 minutes, although you may choose to spend more time on them. Be sure to carve out a little time in your schedule to give them a try, and you'll reap the rewards.

Gratitude is an amazing aspect of life – it's even scientifically proven. However, let's be honest, showing gratitude can sometimes be challenging, especially when we're constantly faced with negativity and daily challenges. It can be difficult to feel grateful when we're going through tough times. I commend you for recognizing this and encourage you to always strive to show gratitude. Even if it's hard, try to search for the light, and it will surely find you. Don't be afraid to start small, focusing on the small things that bring you happiness when the going gets tough, is equally as important.

  • Gratitude isn't possible or considered appropriate when faced with adversity or suffering, or is it? In fact, some of the most grateful people are those who have faced immense challenges and overcome them. While it may be difficult to feel grateful when times are tough, focusing on what you do have rather than what you don't can help shift your perspective.

  • You need to be religious to be grateful, right? Wrong. Gratitude is a universal human experience that transcends all religions and belief systems. Whether you're thanking a higher power or simply expressing appreciation for the good things in your life, gratitude is something that everyone can practice and benefit from.
